Get Involved
This ministry strives to change lives by leading people to worship God through the skillful use of the arts, encouraging one another in fellowship and discipleship, and serving other ministries with their gifts and talents. Check the opportunities listed below and contact us if you see something you may be gifted in.
Musical Arts
Music is a source of joy for you, but moreover, using your musical gifts to worship God and bringing others into His presence gives you even more joy.
- Instrumentalists/Vocalists—We’d like to compile a directory of people who can play any type of instrument (brass, woodwinds, percussion, etc) or sing. If you’re in the directory, you may be called upon to serve on various worship events (i.e. special services, musical interludes, musical accompaniment to dramas, etc).
Performing Arts
You have been gifted in expressive communication. Your voice can convey emotion in a way that draws others into the experience.
- Drama Team—Are you interested in acting? This team creates sketches and videos to open the hearts of our congregation to hear God’s Word. No experience required, training available.
- Scripture Readers—Can you help make the Word come alive by your reading? We need individuals who can enhance our understanding and appreciation of God’s Word through the weekly readings.
Technical Arts
As servants behind the curtain, you are detail-oriented and take pleasure in the nuances of the flow of Sunday service. This group serves the congregation by ensuring that everything goes smoothly each Sunday.
- Visuals Operator—Responsibilities include advancing sermon slides and song lyrics, uploading sermon recordings to the CCUC server, monitoring slide projectors, and adjusting lighting when necessary. When on duty, this person arrives before service on Sunday around 8 – 8:30 a.m. to prepare. Training is offered. A good sense of how PCs/Macs work is helpful.
- Sound Engineer—Responsible for working the soundboard and for proper set up/tear down of sound equipment. Training is offered for the skill, however, this person should be gifted in hearing balance in music and voice. May also assist with lighting if necessary.
Visual Arts
You have been gifted in visual communication. You have a keen eye for sights and colors, and for what is appealing and what is not.
- Photographers—Capture the essence and story of events and ministries around church, so that others who were not there can relive the experience through your images. Can you document God’s work this way—by catching visuals that emphasize sermon series and guide the congregation with what you show them?
- Graphic Designers/Painters/Illustrators—Do you have a way to creatively organize words and/or images that help capture what is being communicated? Do you have a tasteful sense for decoration that could enhance our worship? Your gift could be used to help create sermon slides, create backgrounds for worship song lyrics, create flyers and announcements, and decorate the sanctuary.
Who to contact
The primary contact is our worship coordinator, Bruce G. A good time to find him would probably be after service on Sundays. Hans H., Jason L., and Pastor Green are also good people to find to get you plugged in. Also, any of the worship leaders can direct you to the right person to get involved.
